I recently got to photograph another group of lovely little pre-schoolers at Christchurch Pre-School in Bedford.

I really do enjoy spending time with this age group, it really is such a sweet age and a nice reminder on how to just let go of life’s stresses and just have some fun!
I especially liked being called “Photo Lady” which for one little girl became my identity for the time I was there.

Lulu's fight against Neuroblastoma | Bedford and Milton Keynes Photographer
It was such a privilege to meet and photograph 6-year-old Lulu, big brother Archie, mum Clare and dog Daisy last month for some family pictures.
Last month I had the privilege of meeting 6-year-old Lulu, big brother Archie, mum Clare and dog Daisy for some family pictures.
Having heard about Lulu’s appeal through social media I was more than willing to give up my time for this lovely family and capture some special moments for them. Dad Rob, was not present on the day as he was out training, preparing to do an incredible 12 marathon walks in 12 days in order to raise much needed funds for Lulu’s appeal.
6 year old Lulu was diagnosed with high-risk Neuroblastoma in January 2018, just after starting school. Her family have launched an appeal to raise £162,000 by June this year in the hope of sending her to New York for treatment, a clinical trial which is showing promise in reducing relapse rates. Almost 50% of children with high risk neuroblastoma will relapse, and once they do, their survival rate drops to less than one in ten. This treatment in New York will potentially save Lulu’s life.
If you would like to show your support for Lulu, there are many ways in which you can do this. You can read Lulu’s full story and donate to her cause by clicking on the below link.

Turvey Preschool Photos 2018 | Bedford Photographer
It was a pleasure again to get to photograph the children at Turvey Preschool. It’s always lots of fun spending time with this age group!
It was a pleasure again to be able to photograph the children at Turvey Pre-school. It’s always lots of fun spending time with this age group!
Following the same formula as the previous year, I captured 5 photos of each child going about their daily business with a mix of both indoor and outdoor shots. I always try and capture the children as naturally as possible to avoid those really over the top fake smiles that children just love to do!
Just like the last time, a proportion of the profits were donated to the Pre-school. If you would like to keep up with all the fund-raising or would like to donate to the school please refer to the "Turvey Pre-school Playgroup" facebook page or email admin@turveypreschool.org.uk.
Family Photoshoot at Aspley Heath Woods | Bedford Family Photographer
It was lovely catching up with my good friend and her family at Aspley Heath Woods for a family photoshoot.
It was lovely catching up with my good friend and her family at Aspley Heath Woods for a family photoshoot. I think you can tell by the photos that the kids absolutely loved running around making the most of the great outdoors. Finding sticks was definitely top of the list of things to do and the bigger the stick the better!

Autumn Family Photography | Bedford and Milton Keynes Photographer
Autumn has to be, without a doubt, the most photogenic of all the seasons and is definitely by far my most favourite time of year for outdoor family portraits. Starting out in photography, I always had a passion for black and white images, but it was Autumn that made me appreciate and love colour in photography.
Autumn has to be, without a doubt, the most photogenic of all the seasons and is definitely by far my most favourite time of year for outdoor family portraits. Starting out in photography, I always had a passion for black and white images, but it was Autumn that made me appreciate and love colour in photography. How can you not love the rich earthy tones that Autumn brings? The splashes of reds and orange, hints of yellow and touches of green, autumnal photography has so much to offer.
At this time of year the sun starts to get lower and with it brings an atmospheric light. Those overcast skies actually provide a beautiful, soft diffused light which is perfect for portrait photography. It is also an ideal time of year for families with younger children, with the sun setting earlier we can capture the beautiful golden hour and still be home in time for bed!
Leaf throwing is an added bonus, providing lots of fun for the little ones, and quite often the adults too!
I am hoping to be able to photograph lots more families this Autumn as it truly is the most stunning time of year. If you'd like some beautiful family portraits taken this Autumn then please get in touch by clicking here.

A few weeks ago, I had the absolute pleasure in meeting this lovely family. Their chosen location for the shoot was the beautiful Woburn Abbey Gardens, which made a perfect backdrop for some family photos. It was a beautiful day, a little breezy but the sun was shining and everyone had come prepared with their happy faces, which is always a good thing! The children were lots of fun and so engaging and you could really see how wonderfully close they all were as a family, which was such a beautiful thing to be able to capture. I was made to feel incredibly welcome and everybody had so much fun during the session - including me!

An Indoor and Outdoor Family Lifestyle Photoshoot | Bedford Photographer
So when my client was a little undecided on whether to have an indoor or outdoor family photoshoot I figured the best option was to do both!
So when my client was a little undecided on whether to have an indoor or outdoor family photoshoot I figured the best option was to do both! First, I drove to their stunning, newly built home which was a perfect backdrop for photos. It was also a great starting place to get to know the children as being in their own home they were relaxed and comfortable in their surroundings. For the second half of the shoot, we travelled to nearby Rushmere Country Park, here the children had lots of fun running around and exploring. It was very cute watching the newly walking twins bumble about trying to stay upright!
Mum and Dad were so relaxed that it made it such a pleasure to photograph this family, I was made to feel so welcome - I love shoots like this and I've been very lucky lately having such wonderful families to photograph. Long may it continue! :)

Newborn Lifestyle Photoshoot | Milton Keynes Photographer
This gorgeous little boy was just 2 weeks old when I got to photograph him with his family at there home in Milton Keynes. I love doing newborn shoots at the clients home as I feel everyone is much more relaxed and because of this it's much easier to capture those natural moments.

I love doing newborn shoots at the clients home as I feel everyone is much more relaxed and because of this it's much easier to capture those natural moments. This family were so lovely to photograph, very laid back and easy to chat to and even though big brother wasn't totally convinced about posing with his little brother we still managed to get some lovely natural shots of them together and with the family.

The James Family Spring Photoshoot | Bedford Photographer | Bedford Park
I had so much fun photographing this lovely family a few weeks back. We were initially supposed to be meeting one week earlier but due to bad weather we moved the shoot to the following week and I don't think it could have been any sunnier - not a cloud in the sky!
I had so much fun photographing this lovely family a few weeks back. We were initially supposed to be meeting one week earlier but due to bad weather we moved the shoot to the following week and I don't think it could have been any sunnier - not a cloud in the sky! Luckily we chose to meet at Bedford Park where there are plenty of beautiful trees which provided us with some much needed shade.
Originally I was booked to take photos of the little girl Millie and her parents, who were visiting from Malta, however, what I loved the most about this shoot is that it turned out to be much more of a family affair with two Uncles, an Auntie and Nanna there too!
Visiting Bedford Park was also a huge highlight for me, not only does it make a beautiful backdrop for family photos, there is so much to do there with two children's play areas, a lovely cafe, tennis courts and a lake with ducks. If you're really lucky you may even spot some turtles!
A day in the life of a Pre-schooler | Bedford Photographer | Turvey Pre-school Bedford
It turns out that photographing a group of pre-schoolers can in fact be lots of fun!
Back in November last year I was asked by my local pre-school, which my own children attend, if I would consider taking photographs of the children to help raise money for the school.
It turns out that photographing a group of pre-schoolers can in fact be lots of fun!
Back in November last year I was asked by my local pre-school, which my own children attend, if I would consider taking photographs of the children to help raise money for the school. They have a huge task of raising £90,000 in one year so they can buy the school building and prevent the school, which has been part of the local community for over 40 years, from being closed. Of course I said yes to such a worthwhile cause, I don't think anyone in our local community would want to see it close.
Being in my first year of business I knew it would be a great opportunity to gain some exposure but I also needed to carefully consider how best to reflect my own personal style and at the same time produce beautiful portraits of the children that the parents would want to buy.
As I predominately use natural light for my portrait work, I decided to do the same and capture the children as naturally as possible and at the same time avoid any awkward forced smiles! My aim was to get 5 pictures of each child, capturing a mix of both indoor and outdoor play. I wanted to document the children just going about their daily "preschool" business!
At first the children were a little shy but also curious to know what I was doing and after a while they soon got used to having me about and even enjoyed having their pictures taken.
It was a privilege being able to give the parents an insight into what their little person gets up to during a typical school day. I loved being able to document the children and their little personalities and at the same time raising some much needed funds for the pre-school.
If you would like to keep up with all the fund-raising events or would like to donate to the school please refer to the "Turvey Pre-school Playgroup" facebook page or email admin@turveypreschool.org.uk.
